Hi Krystina, I just wanted to give you an update...
After Evan left I immediately called the property manager and they had the maintenance supervisor come out. He cut part of the wall out of the bathroom and said, "I don't want you coming back in here. I will admit there is a mold problem." Then he offered to move us into a new house. After a year and a half of struggling with them to do something about the problem I knew we had, all I had to do was call you guys and our problem is solved. Thank you SO MUCH! I found surface mold in my home and immediately panicked. Initially, I contacted a company that came in, “looked,” threatened that it was probably toxic mold and told us that they needed to start tearing our house apart. The man doing the inspection said that he had no idea how much mold we had and said that the only way to determine that would be to start tearing down walls and tracing it. He was quick to say that they would tear down as much as was needed to be torn down and that they would remodel it all. He scared us out of our wits. We packed up our children and left the house. I was so scared I went into panic mode and was not thoroughly thinking things through.

The next morning, I decided that I should get a few more opinions. I contacted Bill from AMI. He was a breath of fresh air. He spoke with me on the phone and explained about mold and mold testing. He taught me why it is good to have a mold test before tearing down your house. He took much more time than he needed to help me calm down and relax. I learned that AMI is a neutral party. They come in and test for mold. They do not remodel and they do not do remediation. So, he was not trying to encourage me to tear down, remediate and remodel. He was helping me to fact find. He was factual, informative, compassionate and did the job immediately.

Bill sent one of his guys out to our house that same day and the testing was complete. The AMI tester was also thorough, kind and provided a lot of information. He too, spent more time with me than he needed to explaining and reasoning. AMI worked with me to make decisions upon which testing was necessary and went above and beyond to try to make it affordable while being effective. I received results within days. Luckily, the numbers were not too high. Bill explained that we had “common” mold not “toxic” mold and told me that it was fine to go on living in our home. He referred me to another company for remediation. The remediation company that he recommended was also wonderful (Ekwall Company). Thankfully, we found that we did not have mold in our walls. We had surface mold from time to time due to environmental moisture. This was something that we could help to control. Remediation was not necessary.

I would recommend AMI over and over again. From my experience, I would say that the company is built on honesty, integrity and understanding. Thankfully I found AMI. And, thankfully, Bill is the type of person who runs a legitimate company based on values.

I wanted to thank you for your help. It is rather stressful to buy a new home --then after the fact-- find out that there is water damage to our home and (gasp) the possibility of mold. I was a bit of a skeptic about the tests and I was not sure what your services would do for us. However, now I realize that having our home tested eased many fears and allowed us to isolate a possible mold problem. Luckily, it is not as detrimental as what I had imagined it to be and worth the peace of mind to have our house tested for mold. Your analyses of the outside of our home and recommendation that we adjust our sprinkler system from over watering was really beneficial in reducing moisture from hitting our home. One of the best and smartest things I have ever done is hire AMI to perform a mold inspection. About a month ago, I was in the inspection stage of buying my first home and I thought it prudent to have a certified mold inspector look at my house as some mold had already been detected by myself in an independent inspection. I went on the internet and found AMI and called and spoke with Bill. He spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me explaining the benefits of a mold inspection as well as the different things to look for, etc. He was extremely knowledgeable yet explained everything so that I could understand and was very kind and listened well. I felt very comfortable with him and appreciated the fact that his company does not perform remediation tasks, just inspections, as they feel it is a conflict of interest. I set up a time to meet him at my prospective new house and he performed a thorough inspection, took samples and turned around a report in 48 hours. I am very glad I got the inspection because it uncovered a serious mold problem that the sellers failed to disclose. If I had not had the inspection, I would be faced with serious problems today. Nobody should buy a house without a mold inspection performed by AMI. I am living proof that it saved me thousands of dollars in mold remediation. I was in escrow on a house in June, 2005, and the contingency period was extremely short. My husband had to go out of town at the last moment, and I was left with all the inspections to get taken care of. I only had five days (two of which were Saturday and Sunday).

I found AMI online and called Bill. I told him my circumstance of running out of time and he was very professional and came out to do the mold inspection the very next day - he drove from San Diego to Malibu so I could have my inspection done in time. He is very professional. He explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. Bill is extremely knowledgeable about mold. I have a lot more knowledge now about mold than I did before talking with Bill.

I had to have the samples expedited because of the timeframe of our contingencies. Bill promised they would be done in time and they were. The results of the testing were not good and he saved us a ton of money - we cancelled our escrow. If we had not known what existed in this home, it would have cost us at least a hundred thousand dollars to fix, probably more. Plus, more importantly, our family would have been living in a hazardous environment. I can't recommend Advanced Mold Inspections enough. In a world where companies say they'll get the job done, make promises they don't keep and are unprofessional, Bill and his company gave me hope that there are good, honest people who run good, honest companies. I would recommend him/his company to anyone who was looking for a mold inspection company.
